How to Create a Google Review QR Code

Start with Google’s own free review code, then decide whether editing or placement tracking would help.

Google already gives you a free review QR code

For a simple counter sign, printed receipt or follow-up card, Google's own QR code is usually enough. It is free, sends customers to your Business Profile's review flow and avoids adding another redirect service. Use a dynamic link only when you have a real need to change the destination after printing or measure redirect scans separately.

Google's current Business Profile instructions say the review QR code can currently be generated on a computer browser, not a mobile device. The controls may vary slightly by account, but the documented workflow is the right place to start.

Create the QR code from your Business Profile

  1. On a computer, sign in to the Google account that manages the correct Business Profile.
  2. Open that profile, select Read reviews, then Get more reviews.
  3. Copy the review link for digital messages, or use the displayed QR code for print.
  4. To download Google's image, right-click the QR code and choose Save image as.
  5. Scan the saved artwork before placing it in a layout, then scan the final physical proof.

Confirm the business name and location shown after the scan. Multi-location businesses can easily produce a valid QR code for the wrong profile. Keep one clearly named source file per location and do not reuse a code merely because the artwork looks similar.

Ask for an honest review, not a positive one

Place the code where a real customer can choose to use it, with neutral wording such as “Tell us about your experience.” Google suggests receipts, thank-you emails, the end of a chat interaction and in-store displays as possible placements.

Do not offer discounts, gifts or entries in a draw in exchange for a review. Do not send only happy customers to Google while diverting unhappy customers to a private form. Google's Maps user-contributed content policy prohibits incentivised or biased reviews, selectively soliciting positive reviews, and discouraging negative reviews. A request may invite a genuine experience without trying to control the rating or wording.

What GhostQR can and cannot measure

If you put Google's copied review link behind a GhostQR dynamic code, GhostQR can count requests to its short link and show its own scan analytics. A scan is not a published review. The person may close the page, choose not to post, use another account, or have content moderated by Google. Do not calculate a review conversion rate unless you have a defensible way to match the separate datasets.

GhostQR does not have a native Google Business Profile or reviews integration. It does not create, read, submit or verify Google reviews. It only redirects a dynamic QR code to the destination URL you supply. If all you need is a direct code, Google's built-in download remains the cleaner choice.

Prepare the sign and test the whole path

  • Give the code a short, neutral call to action and name the business or location.
  • Keep the QR code square, high contrast and surrounded by clear space.
  • Print a proof at final size on the intended material and under expected lighting.
  • Scan with more than one phone where practical and confirm the correct profile opens.
  • Retest displayed signs periodically, especially after profile or location changes.

For print preparation, use the QR scanning checklist. If you need a managed redirect, start with GhostQR's editable URL shortener or open the generator with dynamic mode selected. A managed GhostQR redirect uses the paid dynamic-code allowance. Record which location owns each code before sending the artwork to print.

Give customers another way to find the profile if scanning is inconvenient, such as the business name and a short instruction to search on Google. Keep the request separate from payment, access to service, warranty help or complaint handling. Staff can point out the voluntary request, but should give the customer space to decide whether and what to write.
